Upton, Pitts Statements on the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act

WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. House of Representatives today approved the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Innovation Act, S. 3187, by unanimous voice vote. The measure is a key component of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s jobs agenda, and will make major improvements to help keep and create jobs in America and support medical innovation. The bipartisan legislation reauthorizes and reforms key FDA programs to ensure the continuation of various FDA initiatives and the creation of new ones to facilitate the review and approval of life-saving and life-improving drugs and medical devices. The bill also takes action to curb drug shortages and speed the approval of groundbreaking treatments.
