WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Energy and Power, chaired by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), has announced a markup next week on H.R. 6, the Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act. The subcommittee will convene for opening statements only on Tuesday, April 8, at 4 p.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building and will reconvene on Wednesday, April 9, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building to consider the legislation.
“Our allies around the world are clamoring for natural gas, a resource that is abundant here in the United States. Thanks to American ingenuity, we have discovered enough natural gas to use domestically and export to our friends abroad for generations to come. H.R. 6, The Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act, will help our allies lessen their energy dependence on hostile nations while growing our economy here at home. I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance this critical legislation next week," said Gardner.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee has been actively engaged on the domestic and geopolitical benefits of LNG exports. The committee has held multiple hearings to discuss the issue, hosted an international forum, and released a comprehensive report earlier this year.
