WASHINGTON, DC - The House Energy and Commerce Committee today announced its hearing schedule for the week of July 21. The committee will explore ways to improve communication in the health care system, review modernizing environmental regulation, discuss how personalized medicine and technological advances can improve the health care system, examine state energy policies, and review a number of bills before the Communications and Technology Subcommittee.

On Tuesday, July 22, the Subcommittee on Health will examine ways to eliminate communication barriers in the discovery, development, and delivery cycle on the #Path2Cures. This hearing builds upon the conversations established in the 21st Century Cures initiative. Learn more about the initiative here. Witness testimony will be posted at the same link as available.

On Wednesday, July 23, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will examine efforts to modernize state and federal cooperation in environmental regulation and protection. State environmental officials and stakeholders from the regulated community will testify on areas for improvement and ways in which states and EPA can better work together to accomplish mutual environmental goals.

Also on Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Health will hold a roundtable in the 21st Century Cures initiative to discuss how the rise of personalized medicine and advances in science and technology can shape the health care system in the 21st century. The roundtable will explore how genomic sequencing and diagnostic testing, as well as the regulation of these continually evolving areas, affects innovative product development and delivery.

On Thursday, July 24, the Subcommittee on Energy and Power will examine the economic effects of state energy policies as well as the impact of federal polices on states. Members and experts in the energy field will review policies that have proven to be successful.
