WASHINGTON, DC - The House Energy and Commerce Committee today announced its hearing and markup schedule for the week of March 23. Members will discuss the 340B drug pricing program, Internet-connected products and technology, prescription drug and opioid abuse, and U.S. spectrum policy. The committee will also advance drafts of its coal ash legislation and data security legislation.
On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Health will hear testimony from the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Government Accountability Office, and the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General on 340B, a federal drug discount program.as they are posted.
Also on Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade will host an Internet of Things Showcase immediately followed by a hearing to explore Internet-connected products and the next technology frontier. Tuesday afternoon, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will continue its hearing on the Improving Coal Combustion Residuals Regulation Act of 2015 with EPA Assistant Administrator Mathy Stanislaus.as they are posted.
Following Tuesday afternoon’s hearing wrapping up the committee’s review of the legislation, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will hold opening statements for a markup of H.R. ___, the Improving Coal Combustion Residuals Regulation Act of 2015. The Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade will then hold opening statements for a markup of H.R. ___, Data Security and Breach Notification Act of 2015. The subcommittees will reconvene on Wednesday to vote on the drafts.
On Thursday, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will continue its review of the growing threat of prescription drug and opioid abuse. Witnesses will provide insight into this issue at a state and local level, review what steps are being taken, what has and hasn’t worked, and how to improve federal efforts to address the crisis.as they are posted.
Also on Thursday, the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will discuss U.S. spectrum policy, the FCC’s Incentive Auction, and the committee’s work to increase the efficiency of federal spectrum.as they are posted.
