The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on July 17, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The House Committee on Energy and Commerce today announced its hearing schedule for the week of July 20.

On Wednesday, the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology will discuss ways to improve the environment for investment in both fixed and mobile broadband.

On Friday, the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy will review and examine the implementation of the Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest Establishment Act, legislation the committee helped usher into law in the 112th Congress. The law was created to modernize the dated paper manifest system that tracked the type and quantity of hazardous waste being transported to a modern electronic based system.

Also on Friday, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing to hear from number of states on the implementation of the president’s health care law. Subcommittee Chairman Tim Murphy (R-PA) commented, “The administration’s mismanagement of the president’s signature health care law not only led to a HealthCare.gov meltdown on day one, several states were awarded more than $4.5 billion in taxpayer dollars without seemingly any oversight and management from the administration, leaving a trail of broken systems across the country." Subcommittee members will hear from a handful of states about their experiences with implementation.
