WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) issued the following statement after Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY) announced he will retire at the end of the 114th Congress:

He has been a dear friend and valued confidante as subcommittee chairman. It’s all-of-the-above with Ed - thoughtful legislator, fierce opponent of EPA overreach, and unwavering advocate for affordable energy. At the end of this Congress, it will be a pleasure to say ‘job well done’ to the distinguished gentleman from Kentucky as he and Connie start a new chapter."
