WASHINGTON, DC - The House of Representatives will vote this week on the Conference Report to the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) represented the committee for the House-Senate Conference Committee, which today filed its report. The legislation, which aims to improve our nation’s infrastructure, includes provisions resulting from the committee’s ongoing work to improve #Safety4Drivers and ensure America’s energy security.

“This is legislation we should all be proud of. By working with our colleagues in the House and Senate, we have found an agreement to improve safety for families on American roads, strengthen America’s energy security, and bring necessary fixes to our nation’s crumbling infrastructure," said Upton and Mullin. “This will have a lasting effect for people in Michigan, Oklahoma, and across the country. We look forward to advancing this important legislation."

The Conference Report to the FAST Act:

* Promotes reforms at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to increase auto safety, as well as transparency and efficiency at the agency;

* Improves vehicle safety recall processes;

* Increases accountability among automakers and others within the automotive industry;

* Facilitates faster deployment of advanced safety technologies; and

* Ensures America’s energy security.
