The Subcommittee on Energy and Power, chaired by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), has scheduled a legislative hearing for Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “H.R.__, the EPS Improvement Act of 2016," authored by Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-NC).
This pro-consumer, pro-manufacturer legislation would exempt certain lighting technologies from the definition of “External Power Supplies" (EPS) included in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) EPS efficiency standard, which was finalized in 2014. Relief is necessary as the requirements of DOE’s final rule go into effect in February of 2016.
“This legislation is a win for manufacturers in Kentucky, North Carolina, and across the country. It provides them with the clarity they need to ensure hard-working American consumers have continued access to the best lighting technology on the market," said Chairman Whitfield and Rep. Ellmers.as they are posted.
