The Subcommittee on Energy and Power, chaired by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), has scheduled a markup for Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building to consider a discussion draft entitled, “H.R.___, the Pipeline Safety Act of 2016."
Building upon the committee’s recent work examining pipeline safety reform, members of the subcommittee will review a draft bill to reauthorize the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s pipeline safety program.
Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Chairman Whitfield stated, “Pipeline safety has long been a priority, and this week we look to continue the committee’s bipartisan history of advancing meaningful pipeline safety legislation. Our laws must stay up to date to ensure that the millions of miles of pipelines crisscrossing the country are designed, maintained, and inspected to ensure safety. Working in conjunction with the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, we’re hopeful we can come together toward a bipartisan solution."
An electronic copy of H.R.___, the Pipeline Safety Act of 2016 can be found on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website here. A background memo, amendments, and votes will be available at the same link as they are posted. Related Items
