WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), Energy and Power Subcommittee Chairman Ed Whitfield (R-KY), and Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee Chairman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) today sent a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Administrator Mark R. Rosekind seeking information regarding the ongoing Mid-Term Evaluation of greenhouse gas and corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) program standards for light-duty vehicles.
The committee leaders write that they “look forward to a Mid-Term Evaluation process that offers a robust opportunity for public participation, and that includes a comprehensive review of all information relevant to the 2022-2025 standards." The leaders specifically request an updated timeline for the release of the agencies’ Draft Technical Assessment Report, as the subsequent completion of the Mid-Term Evaluation may have significant effects on consumers.
