WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Health, chaired by Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-PA), has announced a hearing for Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building, entitled “The Obama Administration’s Medicare Drug Experiment: The Patient and Doctor Perspective."
The hearing will focus on a recent proposed rule from CMS on its Part B Drug Payment Model. The new model is a mandatory demonstration project, essentially an enormous experiment, which would be conducted across nearly all Primary Care Service Areas in the U.S. Recently, 242 Members of Congress wrote to the administration regarding their many concerns with the proposal and asking that the rule be withdrawn. The hearing will also examine legislation recently introduced by committee member Rep. Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-IN), that would block this proposal from advancing.
“The health and wellbeing of seniors is nothing to be experimented with, yet that is exactly what the Obama administration is doing. The proposed rule will have grave consequences for seniors across the country," said Chairman Pitts. “Next week we’ll further examine the administration’s alarming plan and the legislative solution we need that was drafted by Dr. Bucshon."
The Majority Memorandum, witness list, and witness testimony will be available here as they are posted.
