HEARING: Subcommittee on Health to Examine Bipartisan Legislation to Modernize Biodefense Systems NEXT WEEK

WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Health, chaired by Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-PA), has announced a hearing for Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Examining H.R. 3299, Strengthening Public Health Response Act."

H.R. 3299, authored by committee members Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN) and Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA), would update and enhance the nation’s abilities to respond to biothreats.

“National scares like anthrax and Ebola have shown us that more needs to be done to combat and prevent biothreats," said Chairman Pitts. “This bipartisan bill would modernize our biodefense systems, ensuring that we are well-equipped to handle any threat that comes our way."
