WASHINGTON, DC - Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Tim Murphy (R-PA) and Ranking Member Diana DeGette (D-CO) today issued the following statement after a settlement was announced in the Volkswagen emissions scandal.
“This represents an important step toward resolving the harm to consumers caused by VW’s deception. But it’s not the end of the story as questions remain concerning why and how VW was able to cheat the system for so long - the answers to which will inform us about any weaknesses in the laws and practices to prohibit such deception in the first place."
