WASHINGTON, DC - The Energy Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), today scheduled a hearing for Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at 10:15 a.m. in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “The Impacts and Future of North American Energy Trade."
#SubEnergy will examine North America’s increasingly interdependent energy trade. The United States, Canada, and Mexico represent each other’s largest import and export markets for many energy commodities and their supply chains. Millions of American jobs have been created as a result, and the U.S. is more energy secure than ever before. Next week, members will consider the changing energy landscape, jobs, and the benefits that North American energy trade provides to consumers.
“It’s clear America’s energy landscape has changed dramatically over the last few years. We now lead the world in the production of crude oil, technological innovation and reforms to siting and permitting processes led to increased domestic natural gas production and exports, and we’ve done all this while making the nation more energy independent and secure," said Chairman Upton. “Next week’s hearing will provide our members an opportunity to explore the significance of energy to our trade relationships with Canada and Mexico, and most importantly, how American consumers have benefited."
