WASHINGTON, DC - #SubEnergy Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) today issued the following statement after President Trump signed H.R. 518, EPS Improvement Act of 2017, into law. H.R. 518, authored by committee members Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-KY), passed the House of Representatives in January of 2017 and passed the Senate last month. The legislation exempts certain lighting and ceiling fan technology from an onerous Department of Energy regulation.
“With the president’s signature today, we are providing much needed relief to manufacturers of solid state lighting drivers for LED illumination and ceiling fans using direct current motors," said Chairman Upton. “This is yet another clear-cut example of the Energy and Commerce Committee leading the way when it comes to modernizing onerous rules and regulations for the 21st century and providing much needed relief to manufacturers and businesses across our country."
