#SubEnergy Advances Legislation that Provides Certainty to Ceiling Fan Manufacturers to #FullCmte

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Jan. 30, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Subcommittee on Energy, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), today unanimously advanced H.R. 3477, Ceiling Fan Energy Conservation Harmonization Act, to the full committee for consideration.

H.R. 3477, authored by committee member Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), would align the compliance dates for new ceiling fan efficiency standards. Currently, the compliance date for the latest ceiling fan light kit standard is January 7, 2019, while the compliance date for the ceiling fan standard is Jan. 21, 2020. This commonsense legislation would make the date of compliance for both standards, Jan. 21, 2020.

“Energy efficiency provides benefits for consumers, for job-creating businesses and for the environment, which is why it is so important to have policies in place that are effective in encouraging energy efficiency," said #SubEnergy Chairman Upton. “I’m glad this subcommittee took the opportunity to streamline federal regulations and help keep compliance costs down."
