Walden and Burgess on Administration’s Proposed Rule to Expand Short-Term Insurance Plans

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Feb. 20, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) released the following statement after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a proposed rule to allow short-term insurance plans for longer periods of time.

“This announcement is another important step taken by the administration to expand consumer choice, competition, and access to health care. The so-called Affordable Care Act’s one-size-fits-all plans simply have not worked. The Trump Administration is giving patients a fair shot at affordable health care while increasing the number of Americans who have insurance."
