WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) issued the following statement after the National Institutes of Health (NIH) released its research plan for the Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative.
“Following the additional resources provided by Congress this year, NIH is on a critical mission to continue and advance its research on treatments for opioid misuse and addiction, as well as strategies for better pain management. This research will play a vital role as Congress continues its long-term efforts to stem the tide, bringing support and relief to families across the country who are suffering from this epidemic."
