Walden and Burgess on Administration’s Rulemaking on Association Health Plans

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on June 19, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) issued the following statement after the Trump Administration issued the final rule for Association Health Plans.

“We are encouraged to see the Trump Administration take steps to enable more affordable alternatives under the law, as the rising cost of health care continues to dig deeper into the pockets of Americans around the country. Association Health Plans will create a new pathway for small businesses and self-employed individuals to come together and produce these plans, with the goal of providing relief to soaring premiums and deductibles. Hope for more affordable coverage is welcome news for many Americans and we look forward to continuing to work with the Trump Administration to advance additional proposals that will help lower the cost of care."
