WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and Health Subcommittee Chairman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) issued the following statement after the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced that they are now accepting applications for Tribal Opioid Response Grants.
“These grants will be helpful resources for our communities with Tribal populations. The sad reality is that the opioid crisis hasn’t left a single community untouched, so it is important that we work to ensure resources like these grants are accessible to all of the individuals struggling with addiction and those working to prevent it from spreading. The Tribal Opioid Response Grants have the potential to help aid in the prevention, treatment, and recovery services that are so critical as we work to stem the tide."
Background:
These grants were appropriated earlier this year in the March 2018 omnibus.
More information on applying for these grants can be found here.
