WASHINGTON, DC - Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection Subcommittee Chairman Bob Latta (R-OH) issued the following statement on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s vote to approve the nominations of Heidi King to be Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Peter Feldman to be a Commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
“Today’s vote by our colleagues on the Senate Commerce Committee advanced two nominations critical to keeping consumers safe, both behind the wheel and at home," said #SubDCCP Chairman Latta. “Ms. King’s continued leadership at NHTSA will help make cars and the driving public safer, and strengthen the agency’s ability to execute the rules of the road for self-driving cars. Mr. Feldman’s approval brings us yet another step closer to a full complement of commissioners at the CPSC, ensuring the agency can carry out its mission to keep dangerous products out of the hands of consumers. I urge the full Senate now to move forward with these nominations and quickly confirm Ms. King and Mr. Feldman, as well as CPSC Acting Chair Ann Marie Buerkle."
