#SubHealth to Continue Review of the 340B Program NEXT WEEK

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on July 3, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Health Subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), announced a hearing for Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 10 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, “Opportunities to Improve the 340B Drug Pricing Program."

Next week, #SubHealth will learn more about a recent report by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office (GAO) regarding lax oversight of contract pharmacies within the 340B Drug Pricing Program (340B Program). In addition, #SubHealth will get feedback on several bills and discussion drafts that would strengthen the 340B Program.

“The 340B Program plays a crucial role in our communities - helping safety net providers get access to outpatient drugs at a lower cost. It is imperative that we understand how this program impacts patients," said #SubHealth Chairman Burgess. “Given the program’s quick and expansive growth, the onus is on us to take a closer look at the program and consider ideas that could strengthen it and address the concerns raised by nonpartisan auditors and from our own committee report."

The Majority Memorandum, witness list, and witness testimony for the hearing will be available here as they are posted.
