WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) announced that Josh Trent has been named Chief Counsel for the Health Subcommittee.
“Josh has been a key member of our stellar Health Subcommittee staff for more than four years and I am excited to work with him in this new capacity," said Chairman Walden. “Most recently serving as the subcommittee’s Deputy Chief Counsel in addition to maintaining his policy issues, Josh is well groomed in the vast health care work that this committee has done and will continue to do. He is a true leader on Capitol Hill."
Trent has served on the Health Subcommittee in a variety of roles, advising chairmen and committee members on a number of health care issues, including Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the 340B Drug Pricing Program, and Medicare Advantage.
Prior to joining the committee, Trent worked as health care policy advisor for Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK). He is a graduate of Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and has a master’s degree in international politics from the University of Bath, England. He lives in the Washington, DC metro area with his wife and two sons.
Paul Edattel, who was previously the Chief Counsel of the Health Subcommittee, left the committee last month.
