Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee Chairman Paul Tonko (D-NY) announced today that the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the Paris Climate Agreement on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing, entitled “We’ll Always Have Paris: Filling the Leadership Void Caused by Federal Inaction on Climate Change," will examine the importance of the United States’ continued commitment to the Paris Agreement and why cities, states and businesses across the country are stepping up to say, “I’m still in."
“The Trump Administration’s reckless decision to pull out of the Paris agreement has been a disaster for U.S. global leadership. As the Trump Administration sits on the sidelines, other countries are stepping up to fill the leadership vacuum," Pallone and Tonko said. “Fortunately, state and local governments and businesses around the nation refuse to abdicate our leadership role and are taking action to combat climate change. It is critical that the federal government now step up and follow suit."
