The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 5, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Energy Subcommittee Republican Leader Fred Upton (R-MI) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 762, the Streamlining Energy Efficiency for Schools Act of 2019, by voice vote.

“Promoting energy efficiency in schools is one of the most effective ways for lowering energy costs," Walden and Upton said. “When schools use their energy and resources efficiently, that creates a win-win scenario: minimizing our carbon footprint while reducing the burden on American taxpayers. This bill has had bipartisan support in the 113th, 114th, 115th Congress’ and we are proud to see it easily pass this Congress. We urge our Senate colleagues to swiftly pass this important bill to improve America’s energy efficiency in our schools."
