Consumer Protection & Commerce Subcommittee Announces Hearing on Vehicle Technology to Prevent Drunk Driving

Washington, D.C. - Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee Chair Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) announced today that the Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee will hold a hearing on improving safe vehicle technology on Thursday, March 14, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing will be entitled, “Enhancing Vehicle Technology to Prevent Drunk Driving."

“Every year, over 10,000 Americans die in what should be completely preventable drunk driving accidents," Pallone and Schakowsky said. “At next week’s hearing, we want to discuss ways Congress can encourage the enhancement of vehicle technology to prevent these tragic deaths from happening."
