Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) announced today that the Energy Subcommittee will hold a legislative hearing on Wednesday, June 19, at 10:30 am in room 2322 of the Rayburn House Office Building on pipeline safety proposals. The hearing is entitled, “Legislative Solutions to Make Our Nation’s Pipelines Safer."
“This week marked the 20th anniversary of the pipeline explosion in Bellingham, Washington that killed three young people and devastated a community. We owe it to them, their families and to all the victims of pipeline explosions to ensure we are doing everything possible to enhance pipeline safety in this country," said Pallone and Rush. “At next week’s hearing, we’ll discuss proposals that will make meaningful improvements to the safety of our country’s pipeline network."
The legislative proposals are:
* Discussion Draft: The Safer Pipelines Act of 2019
* H.R. 2139: The Leonel Rondon Pipeline Safety Act
