Walden, Rodgers, and Shimkus Statement on Administration’s Fuel Economy Rule

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Sept. 18, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR), Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), and Subcommittee on Environment and Climate Change Republican Leader John Shimkus (R-IL) released the following statement in anticipation of the Administration’s fuel economy announcement:

“For too long, California’s policies have forced consumers across the country to pay more for vehicles. The Administration’s move to establish uniform standards for fuel economy is the right decision. This decision reasserts the rule of law and puts consumers first. A national framework for fuel economy provides the certainty needed to help drive down vehicle costs and get more Americans in newer, safer vehicles. While we await the rest of the SAFE Vehicles Rule, this announcement is a step in the right direction," said Walden, Rodgers, and Shimkus.
