Health Subcommittee to Hold Hearing on Global Pharmaceutical Supply Chain

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Oct. 23, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Health Subcommittee Chairwoman Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA) announced today that the Health Subcommittee will hold a hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 10 am in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled “Safeguarding Pharmaceutical Supply Chains in a Global Economy."

“Today, the U.S. increasingly relies on foreign sources for the active ingredients in drug products. China continues to be a leading source for these ingredients," Pallone and Eshoo said. “The health and security of the American people depends on the availability, safety and quality of the ingredients that go into the drug products they take every day. This hearing will take a close look at how the federal government and industry can and should work together to ensure the safety and security of our active pharmaceutical ingredients and to better diversify the supply chain."

Information for this hearing, including the Committee Memorandum, witness list, testimony and a live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
