WASHINGTON, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on passage of bipartisan bills to reauthorize Brand USA and the SAFE WEB Act during today’s full committee markup.

“While we may disagree on whether Oregon or Washington has the better wine, we cannot disagree on the importance of the bipartisan bills advanced today. Reauthorizing Brand USA will drive foreign tourism to the United States, which will help boost local economies, grow jobs, and settle our heated debate in the Pacific Northwest. We are also bolstering our protections against malicious cyber-attacks by reauthorizing the SAFE WEB Act, which will allow us to continue to advance in the digital age with confidence and security. These bipartisan bills further this Committee’s commitment to advancing consumer safety and America’s economic interests, and we look forward to moving the legislation through the House," said Walden and Rodgers
