WASHINGTON, DC - House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) released the following statement after House Education and Labor Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee finished marking up their respective proposals to end surprise medical billing.
“We have heard from Sonji Wilkes and countless others who have experienced a surprise medical bill. We have heard repeatedly a call to action from the President of the United States. And, now we have heard from two additional key committees. I am encouraged that there is a path forward to delivering to the president’s desk a solution for the American people to stop this unfair and predatory practice. It’s time to protect patients from surprise medical billing," said Walden.
