Washington, DC - Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee Republican Leader John Shimkus (R-IL) released the following statement after the House passed a bipartisan bill by unanimous consent to extend the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards program (CFATS).
“CFATS is not your garden variety regulatory program - it has played a vital role since the September 11th terrorist attacks of keeping our high-risk chemical facilities secure through appropriate compliance standards that recognize each facility faces unique challenges. We thank our House colleagues for coming together in a bipartisan manner to pass this important bill today and we will continue to find ways to maintain our national security and public safety," Walden and Shimkus said.
