E&C Announces Subcommittee Hearing on COVID-19’s Impact on the Energy Sector

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on June 9, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Energy Subcommittee Chairman Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) announced today that the Energy Subcommittee will hold a fully remote hearing on Tuesday, June 16, at 12 p.m. (EDT). The hearing is entitled, “Reviving our Economy: COVID-19’s Impact on the Energy Sector."

“Our country is facing the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, and the energy industry - particularly clean energy - has been one of the hardest-hit. As we continue to combat COVID-19, the economic downturn has claimed hundreds of thousands of energy jobs, including an estimated 600,000 in the clean energy sector," said Pallone and Rush. “Congress must step in to help. We look forward to hearing from experts on exactly what is needed to assist these workers and ensure we stay on the path toward a healthy and prosperous clean energy future."

This hearing will take place remotely via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the hearing via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the hearing begins.

Information for this hearing, including the Committee Memorandum, witness list, testimony and a live webcast will be posted HERE as they become available.
