Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today after the Full Committee voted to advance 12 bipartisan bills:
“Today, the Energy and Commerce Committee passed 12 bills with overwhelming bipartisan support that will invest in the health and safety of the American people and help revitalize our economy.
“The Committee passed eight health care bills that will create research opportunities, provide support to the health care workforce, and expand access to important preventative services. Taken together, these bills will foster important medical research that will save lives, provide resources to bolster the health care workforce on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, and increase access to auditory and oral health programs to keep our children and families healthy.
“The Committee also approved a telecommunications bill that will help us better understand and address how connectivity barriers impact maternal health and another bill that will streamline the process to resolve disputes over our airwaves and ensure their efficient use.
“Finally, the Committee supported two commerce bills that will provide needed transparency for consumers who purchase products through online third-party marketplaces and bolster the U.S. travel industry, helping to save small businesses and jobs across the country.
“I commend members for their hard work to advance these bills out of Committee and look forward to continuing to work together to pass them on the House Floor."
