TAMPA, Fla. - Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement (DEA), Miami Field Division, and Robert E. O'Neill, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, announced yesterday that a federal jury found Eugene E. (39, Tampa) guilty of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute 280 grams or more of crack cocaine. Based on his prior felony drug convictions, Davis faces a mandatory minimum term of life imprisonment. Davis, who was indicted on Oct. 18, 2012, will be sentenced on August 5, 2013.
According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, Davis engaged in a year-long conspiracy with others to distribute hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and crack cocaine in Hillsborough County. Davis, a prolific crack dealer, was known for purchasing multiple kilograms of cocaine and cooking it into crack cocaine. Davis was often described as "flashy and flamboyant" because he used his drug proceeds to fund an extravagant lifestyle with high-end cars, expensive jewelry, and thousands of dollars in cash.
This case was the result of a comprehensive and dedicated effort by the DEA Tampa District Office, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, and the Tampa Police Department. Mr. Trouville commends the prosecution efforts of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
