FRESNO, Calif. - Sergio Hector Aguilar, aka Sergio Perez, 46, of Bakersfield, Calif., was sentenced today to 7 years and 10 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and committing this crime while under the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office for a methamphetamine conviction that he sustained in 1997 in federal court in Fresno, according to Drug Enforcement Administration Acting Special Agent in Charge Bruce C. Balzano and U.S. Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner.
His sentence follows his guilty plea in April. In pleading guilty, Aguilar acknowledged that he supplied methamphetamine during two separate undercover transactions at a Wal-Mart parking lot and a banquet hall in Bakersfield. At the time, Aguilar was on supervised release following completion of a twelve and a half year prison sentence for conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 20 pounds of methamphetamine to an undercover agent in 1996.
This case is the product of an investigation conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement (DEA), Bakersfield Police Department, and Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen A. Escobar prosecuted the case.
