JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard sentenced Maurice (32, Middleburg) to nine years and ten months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of ammunition. Futch pled guilty to the charge on Aug. 28, 2013.
According to court documents, on July 16, 2012, the Drug Enforcement (DEA) along with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Futch’s home in Middleburg. During the search, agents discovered over 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition, along with a drug scale and other narcotics paraphernalia at his residence. Agents also located a picture of Futch shooting a pistol at a local gun range and later discovered that Futch was, in fact, a member of the gun range. Futch had five prior felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.
This investigated was conducted by the DEA, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. It was prosecuted by United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
