ROCKFORD, Ill. - -Jack Riley, Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration announced the results of a cooperative investigation with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotic’s Task Force, stemming from suspicious activity occurring in the 800 block of Harper Court, Cary, Illinois.
On March 18, members of the DEA Rockford Resident Office and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force observed a 2008 Dodge pick-up truck leave a suspect location in Cary, Illinois. A McHenry County Sheriff’s Police K-9 Officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and subsequently recovered $170,740 hidden inside the cab.
The following day, investigators observed another individual leave the location, at which time a McHenry County Sheriff’s Police K-9 Officer stopped the vehicle and the K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the trunk. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 50 pounds of high-grade cannabis and $1,044. An eventual search of the residence located in the 800 block of Harper Court, Cary, Illinois resulted in the seizure of an additional 50 pounds of high-grade cannabis, $8,000, scales, and packaging materials.
