BANGOR, Maine - Michael J. Ferguson Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England and United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Tawana Smith, a/k/a “Tawana Greene," a/k/a “T," 24, of Springfield, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to distributing cocaine base, commonly known as crack cocaine.
According to court records, on July 8 and July 15, 2015, Smith distributed crack cocaine in the parking lot of two Bangor area hotels. On each occasion, Smith was contacted by an individual cooperating with law enforcement, she arranged the time and location of the transaction, and she sold crack cocaine for $300. Smith faces up to 20 years, a $1,000,000 fine, and between three years and a life on supervised release on each count. She will be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
