The U.S. Department of State Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, Jose W. Fernandez, will travel to Mexico from February 27-March 3, 2022. While in Mexico, Under Secretary Fernandez will meet with various senior officials in the Mexican government to discuss cooperation on key priorities in our bilateral relationship, including North American competitiveness, energy, labor rights, the climate crisis, nature conservation, investment promotion, and innovation.
While in Mexico, Under Secretary Fernandez will meet with the Mexican Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Labor, Environment, Health, and Finance, as well as with youth and innovators, representatives of U.S. businesses, and labor unions.
Mexico is one of the United States’ closest and most valued partners. In celebration of our 200 years of diplomatic relations and our nations’ deep family and cultural ties, Under Secretary Fernandez’s trip will advance cooperation with Mexico on a wide range of issues including economic competitiveness, trade, border integration, energy, the environment, and labor issues.
