The following was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on Jan. 16, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

House Education and the Workforce Committee Chairman John Kline (R-MN) issued the following statement on the retirement of former committee chairman Howard P. “Buck" McKeon (R-CA):

Working with Buck McKeon is an honor and a privilege. After more than two decades in Congress, Buck has made an indelible mark not only on this institution, but also on the nation’s schools, workforce, and armed forces. During his tenure on the House Education and the Workforce Committee, Buck led the charge to reinvigorate America’s job-training system and improve higher education through enhanced transparency for students and parents. His strength of character, steadfast leadership, and integrity are unparalleled. My colleagues and I thank him for his service, and wish Buck, Patricia, and their family all the best in the years ahead.
