***MEDIA ADVISORY*** THIS WEEK: Hearings to Examine Power of School Choice, Failures of Obamacare

The House Committee on Education and the Workforce will hold hearings this week to discuss the need to rescue Americans from the failed health care law, as well as the opportunities created by providing families with more education options. Both hearings will take place in room 2175 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

On Wednesday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m., the Committee on Education and the Workforce, chaired by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), will hold a hearing entitled, “Rescuing Americans from the Failed Health Care Law and Advancing Patient-Centered Solutions." The hearing will examine the consequences working families and small businesses are facing under Obamacare, including higher costs, limited choices, and fewer jobs. Members will discuss efforts to repeal the fatally flawed law and replace it with patient-centered solutions that will empower Americans to access quality, affordable health care.

On Thursday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m., the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, chaired by Rep. Todd Rokita (R-IN), will hold a hearing entitled, “Helping Students Succeed Through the Power of School Choice." Across the country, efforts are underway to provide parents more options when it comes to their children’s education - including charter schools, homeschooling, scholarship programs, and education savings accounts. During Thursday’s hearing, members will examine how federal policies can support innovative education options and discuss ways to extend school choice opportunities to more students.
