Foxx on Su’s Confirmation as Deputy Secretary of Labor

The following was published by the House Committee on Education and Labor on July 13, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Ms. Su as the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Labor:

"The global pandemic and forced shutdowns have upended businesses, workers, and jobs. It is more important than ever for the Department of Labor leadership to promote freedom and opportunity not coercion and red tape, while effectively managing a $12 billion Departmental budget provided by taxpayers.

“Unfortunately, based on her tenure as California’s Secretary of Labor, I have doubts that Deputy Secretary Su is equipped to take on this challenge. Her track record does not suggest that she has what it takes to responsibly execute her duties as Deputy Secretary. I have serious concerns that Julie Su will not provide the leadership American workers need to recover and move forward from COVID-19."
