Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement blasting Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the House Select Committee on the Economy’s press conference touting child care provisions in Democrats’ massive spending bill:
“Democrats’ pipe dreams will make child care more expensive for many families. What Nancy Pelosi failed to say is that child care costs could go up as much as $27,000 per year, and after these harmful changes are introduced, families may not have access to the same child care choices they once did.
“Families who like their child care providers should be able to keep them. Yet Democrats are pushing legislation that could add another disruption to our children’s lives by jeopardizing access to affordable child care."
NOTE: Provisions in the Democrats so-called Build Back Better Act could raise the cost of child care by 102 to 122 percent.
