The following press release was published by the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on Jan. 29, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - U.S. Representative Nick J. Rahall (D-WV), top Democrat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, released the following statement after Secretary LaHood announced that he will not serve a second term as Transportation Secretary.

“Four years ago my good friend Ray LaHood put party politics aside in order to help modernize our transportation infrastructure and speed our economic recovery," said Rahall. “During his incredibly successful tenure, Secretary LaHood was a staunch advocate for job-creating infrastructure investments, including high-speed rail, and he leaves an unparalleled legacy in making our highways, skies, rail, and transit systems safer. I thank Ray for his steady hand as Secretary and wish him the best in his future pursuits."
