Shuster Statement on Rep. Sanford Selection to Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on June 12, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) welcomed recently elected Congressman Mark Sanford (R-SC), following today’s approval by the House of Representatives of Congressman Sanford’s appointment to the Committee.

“I’m looking forward to working with Congressman Sanford on the Transportation Committee as we work to strengthen our Nation’s infrastructure, reform programs, promote economic growth, and ensure that American businesses remain globally competitive," said Shuster.

“I’m honored to be selected to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure," Sanford said. “Efficient, effective infrastructure is critical to families and businesses in the Lowcountry. Serving on the Committee will provide ample opportunity to positively impact important issues for the 1st District, as well as for taxpayers across the nation."

Sanford was elected in a special election on May 7, 2013 as representative of South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District.
