A Youngstown man with a long history of violence was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm, said Steven M. Dettelbach, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, and ATF Special Agent in Charge Donald Soranno.
Crispulo Rodriguez, 42, was sentenced to 236 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Christopher A. Boyko. Rodriguez was found guilty of one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition following a trial last year.
Rodgriguez possessed a.45-caliber Taurus firearm and ammunition in December 2013, despite prior convictions for manslaughter, armed robbery and multiple convictions related to assault and drugs, according to court records.
“ATF’s core mission is to identify, pursue, and perfect criminal cases against individuals who illegally possess and use firearms in furtherance of their criminal activities," Soranno saud. “We will continue to work side by side with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, and all our law enforcement partners, to ensure that persons who foster violence in our communities are dealt with accordingly."
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Miranda Dugi and David M. Toepfer following an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.
