Leader Rodgers Statement on Senate Striking President’s Vaccine Mandate

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce on March 2. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington,D.C.- Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement about the Senate’s action on the resolution under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) that will halt President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate for Medicare and Medicaid providers.

“President Joe Biden’s authoritarian vaccine mandate on health care workers should have never existed in the first place. He should have never used force or fear. The Senate today listened to health care providers who are raising the alarm about workforce shortages and burnout that are hurting patient care. I urge Speaker Pelosi to do the same and schedule a vote in the People’s House on Congressman Jeff Duncan’s resolution. We must protect patient care and send a clear message this dangerous mandate should end once and for all."

Note: Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC) and House Republicans are leading a resolution under the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to halt the vaccine mandate in order to protect our nation’s frontline health care workers and the patients they serve. It was introduced on December 9, 2021.
