CONFIRMATION HEARING FOR FERC NOMINEE SUEDEEN KELLY POSTPONED WHILE SENATE CONSIDERS ELECTRICITY PROVISIONS

The following press release was published by the Senate Committee On Energy & Natural Resources on July 11, 2003. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - The Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee today postponed the confirmation hearing for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission nominee Suedeen Kelly until after the August recess. “Ms. Kelly deserves to have a confirmation hearing that is focused on her accomplishments and qualifications," said Energy Committee Staff Director Alex Flint. “I don’t think its fair to Ms. Kelly to hold her confirmation hearing in the middle of intense negotiations on the electricity title." The hearing will be rescheduled at a later date.
