DOMENICI, TAUZIN ISSUE JOINT STATEMENT, RELEASE DRAFT LANGUAGE ON HYDROGEN, COAL, PIPELINE, ETC.

The following press release was published by the Senate Committee On Energy & Natural Resources on Sept. 15, 2003. It is reproduced in full below.

Joint Domenici/Tauzin statement: “Today we released draft language on several provisions in the energy bill. We will continue to release draft language through this week and into next. We do not consider this to be final language. Rather, it is a first step toward productive negotiations. “We have instructed our staff to hold a series of meetings with the staff of Republican and Democratic conferees and the majority and minority staff of House and Senate committees with jurisdiction over this issue. Those meetings will commence tomorrow and continue into next week. “We believe these meetings will produce language that can be presented to conferees for their consideration. We look forward to an open and bipartisan process that will deliver final language to conferees for a vote by early October. The draft language released today on clean coal technology, hydrogen, the Alaska Natural Gas Pipeline, energy efficiency and personnel can be found at: http://energy.senate.gov/legislation/energybill2003/energybill2003.cfm.
